  • Analyze environmental issues and their international implications.

Environmental issues effect every nation on the globe, allowing environmental issues to be called international affairs. The main environmental issue that has risen over the past 20 years has been the issue of Global Warming, which is the melting of the polar ice caps due to holes in the Earth's O-Zone layer. Althought many saw Global Warming as a joke at first, the reality of the environmental issue has been brought to the attention of many nations, who are now taking the issue seriously. This environmental issue has been taken a step further since the turn of the century, and Al Gore, who ran for President in the 2000 Election and lost to our current President, George W. Bush, won the Nobel Peace Prize because of his efforts and research on the negativies of Global Warming on an international scale. Through his research, he discovered that if nothing is done to preserve the environment and stall Global Warming, it will affect governments all over the world on local scales, causing human lives and jobs to be at a very high risk. Global Warming would also affect every nation's economy, which could cause a crash similar if not worse than the United States economy crash in the late 1920's.
